Story
In Britain and Europe, the European goldfinch is markedly different in appearance than here in the US. It displays a bright red face, with white and black cap, a tan to brown body and with wings tipped with yellow and black.
Created all in enamel with a rose cut diamond eye, this finch is safely nestled with its surround of 15k gold foliage, cattails and pearl topped blooms.
Victorian dating to circa 1850, the enamel hand painting is sublime with subtle touches and the use of a delicate hand throughout. Colors range from rose madder, to blue gray, toffee, black and alabaster.
The foliage is artistically modeled in green and rose gold with yellow gold to the reverse. Texture defines the shaped leaves, the rose gold cattails, and even the natural freshwater pearl tips of the three flowers.
It comes in an antique re-fitted box of maroon velvet, cream silk and plum velvet exterior.
