Story

Eighteenth century jewelry has a vibe all its own.

The pieces are often sculptural, with precious metals dominating the whole and smaller gemstones or diamonds. Some gems in particular were in scarce supply until later, others such as topaz, chrysoberyl and garnets, were plentiful.

A table cut diamond (one of the earliest forms in jewelry along with the pointed cut) appoints the center. Surrounding in pillows of 18k gold are 10 rose cut diamonds.

All are set closed backed so that from the reverse you see only gold. Typical of Spanish and Portuguese designs for rings, this hails from the mid to late 18th century.

Suitable for a man or woman and easily sized.
