Story
Parental love for a daughter comes down to us in tangible form 79 years later.
Some of the more beloved vintage jewelry comes with a story and a hint of its long history. Engraved and dated to the interior, this ring of 1940 contains both blow-out blue sapphires and a radiant Australian opal.
In hand-engraved script, the initials J.E.L. along with the date June 26, 1940 and Mother and Dad tell us all that we need to know.
The sapphires glow with vivid and bright blue. Sixteen add up to a total weight of .96 carats of the prettiest sapphires you have seen in ages.
They surround an Australian opal cabochon of 2.05 carats with even flecks of color. They range mostly from the orange to red spectrum with hints of sunflower yellow against a backdrop of greens and blues.
In 14k gold, this cluster or halo ring has shoulders that display sculptural detail then segue into a tapered shank.
