Story

SPECIAL MARKDOWN PRICE!

In a sense, a type of revolution emerged during the Victorian Era - one which burst forth with a fervent interest in both the science and romance of nature. Parlors became museums in miniature with displays of exotic specimens of flora and fauna garnered from Egypt to the wilds of Brazil.

Jewelry was not immune to this eruption of culture and curiosity. Items such as the pendant are examples of how the surrounding environment can make an impact on fashion and the decorative arts.

With the sculptural likeness of a scallop shell, this pendant is created in silver topped 15k rose gold. The interior surface and bale are pavé set with natural Persian turquoise half cabochons.

Bands of pavé in curvaceous arcs provide even more visual depth to the already concave interior. Note the realistic shell lip with a natural freshwater pearl drop.

To the reverse, 15k rose gold backs the pendant. Several oval and “O” fittings terminate in a tapered turquoise set bale, all of which are made of gold. A long time ago, the brooch (with fitting still intact) was converted to a pendant so currently it best when worn as such, otherwise the top elements will dangle to the side.
