Story
Unique to the Victorian period, a book chain was so named because each link is a rectangular piece of metal folded over to resemble a book. Over time it evolved into other types of fancy links such as this one which were often decorative, wide and flat.
Ornamental, this solid sterling silver piece boasts a double-sided shield shapes of opposing links with the book chain center. Like stitching on cloth, the folds are now smaller within a linear series in a central line adding high polish and visual interest.
Each outer link is replete with five petaled flowers and leaves for a striking floral pattern. Wear it by itself, add a charm, pendant or locket or layer it with other long chains.
