Story

Soar and dive with the swallow birds so symbolic of Spring, the seasons, cyclical rhythms and loyalty (they mate for life) in this bewitching Victorian ornate necklace.

Characteristically large in scale and with its wide silver chain, this statement necklace displays everything you could want in a classic piece of silver jewelry from the late 1800s.

Hallmarked for the year 1880 and created in Birmingham, England, its entire front surfaces are hand worked and hand-engraved.

The oval locket displays two sprigs of leaves and at their apexes, two flowers. The leaves alternate engraving with appliques of yellow gold over silver. Rose gold over silver is applied to the blooms.

The swallow, swooping amid the foliage is also rendered in rose gold over silver, the same for a thin frame around the serrated perimeter. The reverse is plain (except for the hallmark).

The interior has room for two photographs with their original glass and rims to hold them. Its original bale is designed in a gold fashion.

The book chain is created via overlapping shield shapes with hand engraved ivy patterns. Ivy another symbolic and often seen Victorian motif signifies clinging, attachment and love. A plain, high polished "stitch" of silver appears to be threaded through the links binding them together.

Striking when worn with the locket, solo and with any pendant or charm of choice. Style the locket with a smaller chain for another look.
