Story
Georgian era jewelry has some of the finest goldwork imaginable. Metal techniques such as cannetille and repoussé make for incredible examples of the craft.
Large in overall scope yet in perfect symmetry, this two-part 20k yellow gold brooch pendant features evocative faceted royal purple amethyst gemstones.
The top section showcases delicate repoussé metal work of shell-like elements embracing cannetille flower heads. Situated with a horizontal orientation an oval cut amethyst of 18.75 carats is placed within the center.
Suspended from meticulously designed decorative gold chain is a vertical drop spotlighting a pear shaped 6.5 carat faceted amethyst. Fragile appearing repoussé forms and woven threads of golden cannetille surround the stone with just a kiss of a caress.
This antique treasure demonstrates the harmonious balance which jewelers of this time achieved.
Currently some chains can slip under the structure at the top. If you wish this adjusted for a more formal pendant fitting, or for a matching chain just contact us.
