Story
Heavy and bold, this 1939 ring stands out for its many distinctive attributes. Among them, a big look while maintaining elegance and panache.
Aztec or Mayan in inspiration, the designs on each shoulder at first appear to be entirely geometric. Then a seated figure emerges and the incised details take on a Central and South American flavor.
Note the pyramidal forms bordering beneath the gemstone, the leaves reminding one of a dense jungle-scape and a sun or wheel below the seated figure.
The eight-sided medium hued amethyst weighs 8.1 carats, with fine clarity its lilac and bright highlights work well within the 14k yellow gold.
