The gem spinel has an intriguing history. In centuries past, the red version of this stone has been thought to be a ruby and has been incorporated into the collection of more than one set of crown jewels.

Occurring in almost every color, the spinel featured in this mid-twentieth century platinum ring vibrates with an alluring purple pink tone. The 2.5 carat cushion cut gem shows off its best attributes claw set at the four corners.

A pair of baguette diamonds, total weight of .40 carats (H-I color; VS clarity) complement the colorful spinel with both the sparkling brilliance and the angular cut of the diamonds.

Split shoulders and a minimalist open work gallery place a modernist twist on a vintage ring.
