Story
Engraved or carved gem stones have been a part of jewelry history since ancient times. We are most familiar with cameos and intaglios using a hardstone as a seal. That art form is known as glyptography.
The image of a flower complete with leaves is carved into the surface of an oval faceted amethyst of 3.4 carats and finely painted with gold leaf.
Gracefully incised, the foliate rendering is set with eight rose cut diamonds of a total of .04 carats (I-J color; SI1-2 clarity) - each leaf has one and the bloom has six.
A claw setting of 18k yellow gold secures the purple lavender gem with multiple prongs which form an undulating scalloped gallery.
Ornate open work shoulders, decorated with a stylized flower, segue into a tapered shank.
