SPECIAL MARKDOWN!
Size does matter when pearls are involved and this is one very large and magnificent mabe pearl ring. This type of pearl differs in one very specific way from what we have come to expect from the typical pearl — it has a flattened underside.
The semi-spherical shape is cultured by placing the irritant against the side of the mollusk with the oyster secreting its nacre over and against the shell. Removed from the shell, the pearl is capped with a section of mother-of-pearl.
With a beautiful iridescent and even coloration of golden white, this 13 mm luscious pearl reads snowy white with just hints and overtones of blue, purple and green.
A surround of twenty-six (26) single cut diamonds encompasses the domed wonder as a circle of bright stars. Outstanding platinum open work on the under-gallery and shoulders add to the femininity and delicacy of the ring.
Please note that each shoulder is embellished with three (3) single cut diamonds bringing the total to thirty-two (32) single cut diamonds of .64 carats (I-J color; VS2-SI2 clarity). The antique French mounting dates to the Edwardian period.
