Story
The early years of the Victorian period were known as the Romantic Era and jewelry of the time reflected the powerful love between the Queen and her beloved husband. Sentiment in adornment swept through everyone's consciousness.
What better way to express love than the iconic heart symbol? This example circa 1850 displays a 10k yellow gold heart locket pendant.
Appointed on the front with a textured surface, a three-dimensional appliqué features five oval pyrope garnet cabochons, total weight of .70 carats as the fruit of a grape vine. Finely detailed grape leaves complete with veining are included.
Overall the configuration of the pendant is of a puffy heart. To the reverse the smooth back is inset with a glass covered circular locket compartment. Perfect in size, sentiment and meaning.
