Story
The witch’s heart is so named and given to a person who captures the heart and bewitches another! The style dates back centuries to Scotland and is often referred to as a luckenbooth brooch. The genre has been with us since the fifteenth century.
Frequently given to a loved one to help keep away the evil spirits, the brooch was also pinned to the swaddling blankets of babies for the same reason. The design has endured for centuries and this particular brooch displays such an expressive form with the crown atop the heart.
It is interesting to note that the heart curves to the right, which is most common. Only a few curve to the left.
Each of the thirty thirty-two (32) flat cut garnets are lovingly hand set by hand in rub over silver and the pin mechanism on the reverse is crafted in 9k rose gold.
