Story
Pomanders have a history dating back centuries. Their use is similar to a vinaigrette in that often cotton wool was soaked in an aromatic elixir and placed inside. It exuded a pleasant smell even when the streets and environs may not have.
Intricate and patterned, this is entirely fashioned in silver gilt (vermeil). It is shaped as an apple, plum or similar fruit. It has a screw fitting inside so the top and bottom can separate or be turned back together.
Its construction in decorative and open filigree, with swirling and abstract imagery. Chinese origin, the motifs are common to that Asian history. Light in weight, is is round and three dimensional when worn.
