Story
Art Deco style was all about modernism. Wherever you looked new designs, fabulous patterns and “experimental” forms were popping up. Uniqueness, risk taking construction and, at times, true “madness” (as in Dadaism and Fauvism).
Crafted by the firm of M.B. Bryant & Co., this ring of 14k white and yellow gold expresses color contrasts, and opposing geometries and shapes for a restrained dynamism.
An imposing rectangular cut blue sapphire of .60 carats plants its proportions of 5.7 mm by 4.4 mm smack in the middle of an open work elements in white gold.
Contrasting that deep and vivid blue coloration, four (4) radiant diamonds, total .20 carats (I-J color; SI1-2 clarity) hit the high spots of the cardinal signs. Yellow gold prongs clutch each diamond within the white gold frame.
Each shoulder displays two open work inverted triangles or sawtooth shape which then segues into a smooth band of 14k yellow gold.
Historical Notes: M.B. Bryant & Co. was founded in 1858 by Monroe B. Bryant, located in Newark, New Jersey for 30 years. In 1887 they relocated to New York, New York. The firm advertised itself as “America’s oldest ring house.”
