Story
Gaze upon a 1.6 carat oval faceted spessartite garnet. The name of the orangey-red gem is derived from the “Spessart” — a low wooded mountain range where the gem was discovered. Here it is used as the main feature in a gorgeous Victorian cluster ring of silver-topped 18k yellow gold.
Note the gold rub over collet with pinched claws securing the stone. A series of ten (10) rose cut diamonds of .05 carats each (total of .50 carats with J-L color and SI1-3 clarity) embrace the intensely hued gem with a sparkling surround set in silver collets. With a flat profile the cluster ring seems to meld into the sleek yellow gold shank without a hitch.
We just love the hand made, slightly naive quality of the workmanship. So far from the precise, stamped out nature of most jewelry today, it imparts the ring with a human touch, a sense of the artistry behind the jewel.
