SPECIAL MARKDOWN!
A fabulous antique Victorian sterling silver locket pendant gives us pause for this holiday time. Is it a partridge in a pear tree per chance finely engraved across the front? Well, almost…’tis a quail serenely perched upon the branch of a large tree.
The oval double box photo locket features hand engraving with carefully rendered details. Small leaves on the tree and delicate markings for the avian explain masterful work. The reverse has an ornate monogram employing the letters of “C” and two “O”s. Subtle patterned borders enclose both images.
The forms are representative of the Aesthetic Period and display the impact importation of Japanese art had on English jewelry making.
