Tourmaline is a gemstone which comes in a cornucopia of colors ranging from blue to bright yellow and more in-between.
Dramatic in presentation, the 5.02 carat gem is more than 12 by 8 mm in dimensions. Cut in a rectangular shape with slightly angled corners, the watermelon pink beauty is simply claw set in a mount of platinum. The under gallery is reminiscent of the structure of a sleekly designed support where aesthetics overrule function. Modernistic shoulders present an open work streamlined profile which unobtrusively segue into a smoothly sculpted shank (band).
Date: Circa 1970.
