Story

Announcing The Three Graces Best Find and Value of the Month! Mysteries of the moon are revealed in this tribute to the moon. An oval carved moonstone gem with a strong blue sheen sheds its 8 mm by 6 mm light through 1.05 carats of artistry.

An intaglio of the face of a woman is detailed upon the surface of the moonstone. She most likely represents the mythological Roman goddess Diana (Greek deity Artemis) who was associated with the moon and all that is feminine.

With a “crown” of tight curls and waves cresting the top of her head, the goddess is depicted with wide open eyes, a slender nose and full lips. A crescent moon of four (4) faceted natural rubies caresses the right side of the face. All set in a mount of pale rose gold most complementary to the color of antique rubies. Hand engraved in script to the interior is “Dale to Ella Oct. 25 | 86” for 1886. Don't ask us to find another!

Date: 1886.
