Story

The star motif characterized some of the more spectacular pieces of Victorian jewelry. The configuration lent itself extraordinarily well to the display of diamonds. Emanating from the center, a natural fancy green yellow diamond of .82 carats gives a qualitatively different air to the diamond set jewelry of the era.

The overall arrangement features a pair of five pointed stars of 18k yellow gold. A larger star overlays a smaller one with the rays of the smaller intersecting between those of the larger. An array of twenty (20) old mine and old cushion diamonds join five (5) tiny rose cut diamonds for a total estimated weight of 1.4 carats (VS2-SI2 with most with higher clarity), all white at H-I color range with a few of the smaller ones graded J-L.

Please note the later date superbly made removable screw-off brooch fitting to the reverse. In addition, the antique piece easily can be converted to a pendant at no charge.

The brooch is accompanied by a GIA certificate only for the diamond center, color is natural and not enhanced.

Date: Circa 1880.
