Meticulously designed, this late 18th century ring of 15k yellow gold and silver provides a radiant example of the detailed and fine craftsmanship of Georgian jewelry. An oval faceted amethyst 7 mm by 9 mm in size has been foiled and claw set closed back in a yellow gold crimped collet. The amethyst gem with pink and lilac hues appears to be floating within an openwork frame of lightly twisted gold work accented at the each cardinal points with an old mine cut diamond in a square rub-over silver collet. Decorated shoulders and sides employ patterning and engraving.
Date: Circa 1780.
Important: Foiled jewelry should not be exposed to water for any extended period of time nor soaked in any other liquid or exposed to cleaning products or harsh chemicals. In addition, avoid steam cleaning.
