Although used in jewelry for at least the last millennium spinels are rarely found in modern pieces. As a consequence, most people are unfamiliar or unaware of the natural beauty of this rare stone which is found in a range of colors and varying shades. Red and pinks fall into the most desirable hues.
A vertical profile with sensuous curves highlights a lovely pink spinel of an estimated .70 carats. The substantial gem is set in a square platinum bezel accented with mile grain detailing. Open filigree work surround the passionate pink stone with two old European cut diamonds of an estimated .30 carats (H-J color; SI1-2 clarity for only clear inclusions) situated north and south.
