Story

The fineness of Edwardian jewelry is not only evident in its design and proportion but in the manner of its craftsmanship and the quality of the materials used. Of course, platinum is the metal of choice with diamonds and an aquamarine chosen as the ultimate for feminine adornment.

Representing that statement is this delectable platinum pendant necklace. Simultaneously sensual and elegant, a fine platinum paper clip style chain follows the curves of the neck as its pendulum shaped drop gently touches the décolletage. Linear in orientation, the eye is drawn from the circular diamond surmount down the elongated diamond set oval to a column of triple diamonds only to rest upon a fine medium pale blue faceted aquamarine teardrop of an estimated 2.6 carats.

The gem is set in a diamond covered platinum element which echoes the tear drop configuration. Please note the unique decorative patterning which includes crosshatching, minute circles and waves and that even the tiniest edges have been embellished. In all, the necklace is set with a total of eighteen (18) diamonds – four old European and fourteen old single cut diamonds (the largest is .17 carats) for an estimated total weight of .56 carats.

Date: Circa 1910.
