Story

A world unto itself is encapsulated within this natural no-heat color shifting sapphire of an estimated 5.5 carats. Upon first glance the stone has the touch of van Gogh’s Starry Night blue. With a blink Claude Monet’s lily pond purples and violet flash before the eyes! The magic is in the type of light as incandescent, fluorescent or sunlight has its own special effect on the color change.

Did you know that when you gaze inside a some sapphires gemstone (using very powerful magnification) you can see a world unto itself? Hair-like parallel filaments streak through its depths; at angles more brushstrokes of these filaments fill the view as minute angular structures far smaller than pin points reflect a prism of colors. Those traits all part of the inherent properties of this gem. Amazing, yet our eye sees none of this…only lush hues and refraction, clear and radiant.

The color shifting wonder is mounted in a platinum setting rife with diamonds, in all thirty (30) single cuts all white and shimmering at H-I color and SI1-2 clarity and a total estimated diamond weight of .45 carats. Details such as swags, bow elements, mille graining and split shoulders add to the fineness of the antique ring.

Date: Circa 1910.

Accompanied by a certificate for the sapphire stating it is a natural color shift sapphire with no evidence of heat treatment.

Photographs cannot fully illustrate the color range of the sapphire, it must be seen to be believed.
