Story

Jewelry impressed with hallmarks may provide insight into the origin, metal content, date of manufacturing and sometimes the maker of the piece. These tiny bits of information can give us specific historical background to a piece and clues to its past. Here we have a ring with a full set of English hallmarks and a registry mark only used by the English.*

An ethereal flower motif ring of 18k yellow gold shows off its credentials with a centered rose cut diamond from which radiate six (6) natural half seed pearls. The diamond is encased in a pinched collet of yellow gold and each pearl is set within a peaked gold bezel. Nicely tapered shoulders are adorned with patterns frequently used during the Grand Period of Victorian jewelry which dates to circa 1870-1890. A nice historic touch are not only a full set of English hallmarks but a registry mark as well.

Date: 1872.
