Story

This is your quintessential delectable Art Deco diamond engagement ring. Well within most budgets, 18k white gold filigree and an old European cut diamond of an estimated .35 carats (H-I color; SI1-SI2 for clear inclusions) mingle to create a visual appearance of a larger diamond than the actual carat weight suggests. The choice diamond is set within a mile grain edged lozenge shaped white gold bezel and then situated in a subtle eight-sided geometric form. On each side a synthetic triangular sapphire adds a bright spot of color.

While the term synthetic may be misleading it is a standard term to describe a sapphire grown under laboratory conditions. They are structurally exactly the same as sapphires found in nature. During the early 20th century “synthetic gemstones” became one of the first wonders of the modern world and designers were enthralled to be able to incorporate such technology into their designs of the day. Most rings of that period with accent sapphires utilize them.

Date: Circa 1925.
