Story

J. E. Caldwell & Company was founded in 1839 and was one of Philadelphia’s premier jewelry stores for over 150 years. This jewelry house is known for creating the best of tomorrow while retaining the importance of the past heritage of its jewelry design and silversmith tradition.

The decade of the 1960s brought the wearing of rings to an all time high. Whether enrobed in multiple rings on the hands or even on each finger, rings were everywhere. Striking and dramatic, a luxuriously rich emerald cut natural pyrope almandine garnet of an estimated 6.8 carats displays its glorious deeply saturated red wine with red purple hues in a clean and simple mount of 14k white gold. On each side majestic columns of brilliant cut diamonds (6 in all) with a total estimated weight of .36 carats, I-J color and VS2 clarity declare instant attention.

Date: Circa 1970.
