Story

The oohs and ahs that come with diamonds typically are in reaction to size. When referencing gemstones color is the operative word...and this no heat star sapphire has it in purple spades! Polished in a domed cabochon shape, an estimated 4.94 carats of vivid deep purple glow and reflect light to create that revealing pointed star.

Within this natural untreated gem tiny needle-like mineral inclusions have aligned on the axes of its crystalline structure to produce an optical phenomenon referred to asterism. The star-shaped effect is especially apparent across the surface when the stone is cut into a high domed cabochon such as the one featured in this platinum ring.

The vibrant gem is set in a sumptuous period Art Deco platinum mount which features twenty-eight (28) diamonds with an estimated total of .68 carats (I-J color average; SI1 clarity). Flanking the domed wonder east and west are two (2) trapezoid shaped diamonds each accented with its own baguette diamond on the shoulder. North and south platinum arches are studded with a total of six (6) transitional diamonds as eighteen (18) old single cuts glitter and shine along the shoulders and sides.

EGL USA certificate for the sapphire stating it is a natural star sapphire of natural purple coloration.

Date: Circa 1935.
