Story

New lower price!!! Down from $4550! One of the several popular styles of early 19th century earrings consists of two or more plaques connected by lateral chains. This particular Italian pair consists of very fine micro mosaics and is exceptionally scarce. Although earrings from this time frame are typically quite long, these are very wearable at just less than 1-1/2 inches in length.

Each earring consists of two oval discs of differing size with the smaller disk suspending the larger one using three lengths of fine link chain. One of the smaller micro mosaics features a detailed portrait of a man fishing next to the sea. He is clad in clothing consistent for the late 17th to the early 18th century with blue breeches, white stockings, a red jacket cum white blouse and a black cap. Green grass is under his brown shoes.

The other image is that of a man seated upon a rocky coastline on a promontory above the shoreline. He is in a relaxed pose as he plays a tune upon a pipe or recorder. He is also clothed in colorful garb with his scarlet hat, yellow blouse and blue leggings. The micro mosaics are so finely crafted that they appear to be paintings in miniature. Each of the larger plaques displays a different floral bouquet against a white background. A wide spectrum of colors and hues, some of the flowers appear to be roses. All set in 18k yellow gold with original back to front ear wires.

Date: Circa 1820.
