Story

Natural uncultured pearls are among the rarest of the gem world. Natural pearls have no bead inside and were not aided by man in any way. That being taken into consideration, most pearls are judged by how the pearl is seen in relation to specific standards of roundness, surface smoothness, the color (often, but not always the degree of whiteness), sheen or luster and when in a strand, the uniformity.

Using those criteria, the pearls in this necklace are truly exceptional in every category. Natural pearls of such quality are extremely difficult to find. Graduated in size from 6.18 mm to 2.46 mm, each of the cream colored gems is individually hand knotted between every pearl. The strand is well matched in color and has fine lustrous pearls which are round except for a few just slightly off round (very hard to detect with the eye). A delicate yet strong platinum clasp is marquise shaped, engraved and set with three (3) old European cut diamonds of a total estimated .21 carats. For added security a hidden safety latch is beneath the clasp.

The necklace is accompanied by a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certificate stating that all pearls are natural saltwater except one cultured pearl – the smallest pearl next to the clasp with the tongue.

Date: Circa 1900.
