Story

You will not believe your eyes upon viewing this unusual diamond cut known as the Jubilee. This cut is reserved for large diamonds and enables these gems to shine shine shine. In all, there is a total of 88 (sometimes 80) facets compared to the 58 facets cut into a round brilliant diamond. More so, there is glitter galore with no culet and the gem is not cut as deeply as most of the typical princess cuts. Consequently the visual size of the carat weight of the Jubilee is greater than that of the princess or brilliant. Sparkle and brightness seem literally to jump off every aspect of the glowing gem.

Set in a beautiful platinum mount, the .93 carat (H color; VS1 clarity) diamond is a very scarce cut. An additional twelve (12) single cut diamonds of an estimated total .10 carats diamond weight gives this magnificent vintage diamond engagement ring a total estimated diamond weight of 1.03 carats of sheer glory.

Accompanied by an EGL USA certificate for the main diamond only for a retail replacement value of $12,420.00

Date: Circa 1915.

Historical Notes: The Jubilee Diamond, weighing 650.80 carats was discovered in South Africa in 1895. It was initially named the Reitz Diamond after the president of the South African state in which it was mined. In 1896 the gem was cut into a magnificent 245.35 carat colorless cushion shaped brilliant cut diamond and a 13.34 carat pendeloque brilliant diamond. The larger gem, i.e., the Reitz diamond was renamed the Jubilee Diamond in honor of the 60th (diamond) anniversary of the crowning of Queen Victoria.
