Story

Glittering and hypnotic, an Edwardian brooch pendant presents in all it glory. Masterfully fabricated with a moveable gold bale that flips up or down for wear as a pendant or brooch. The treasure is also endowed with a removable (threaded to screw and unscrew) pin stem and fold down safety clasp. Once again, the quality of antique jewelry demonstrates that the majority of the artisans of today would not (and probably could not) make fittings such as these as the amount of hours (measured in weeks) necessary to make just the fittings would be far too numerous to be justified by cost.

Nonetheless, the artisans of the 19th century did take the time and had the skills to fabricate this marvelous object of 15k yellow gold scrollwork embellished with engraved accents and stunning gemstones. The oval openwork pendant brooch is grounded with a faceted rectangular pink tourmaline. At the cardinal points a flowerhead form is set with four (4) pale green tourmalines which radiate from a pale blue almost white tourmaline center. Between each floral cluster a pale blue tourmaline harmoniously balances the overall symmetry of the piece. In all there are sixteen (16) small pale green and eight (8) pale blue tourmalines.

Please note that with the pin mechanism removed the pendant lies perfectly flat. The neck shot was taken with the mechanism still connected.

Date: Circa 1890.

Chain is not included; please contact us for details on purchasing.
