Story

A woman focuses her soft and knowing gaze upon you. Captured in the round is an expertly rendered watercolor on ivory portrait miniature of the right light brown eye of a woman. Gently framed by curls of dark brown fringed hair the image reflected embodies her deepest desires and draws you towards her.

The delicate portrait is set within a surround of eighteen (18) natural half pearls (untested but guaranteed to be natural) of approximately 4.4 to 4 mm in diameter. The pearls are a variety of shades of grey blue color and set in crimped collets of 12k rose gold. The original gold bale is encrusted with fourteen (14) tiny natural half seed pearls with a luster rivaling that of the portrait. The reverse reveals a glass locket back and a memorial inscription engraved into the gold: "John Girdler obt 10 Oct 1806 aet 49" – he passed on the 10th of October in 1806 at the age of 49.

Date: Circa 1806 for locket; miniature may be slightly later.
