Story

Making its initial appearance in the late 1800s this form of finger ring is so named for its two arches of gems "crossing over" and lying along each other. Newman's “An Illustrated Dictionary of Jewelry” defines the ring as "a type of finger ring, the shank of which exceeds a full circle and is wrapped around the finger so that the two terminals overlay and lie alongside each other, each usually being set with a gemstone."

No matter the source of the explanation, this Art Deco crossover ring has sensuous swirls of 18k yellow gold with scroll-like terminals set with a glittering old European diamond. One of the diamonds is estimated to be .45 carats and the other at .24 carats bringing the total estimated diamond weight to .69 carats (G-H color; VS1-2 clarity). The diamonds are in modified coronet settings which securely hold the precious gems.

Date: Circa 1920.
