Story

A sophisticated bejeweled ring of platinum truly represents the tenets of Art Deco. A quartet of rectangular cut natural deep blue sapphires with an estimated total weight of 1.1 carats strikes a dramatic linear pose across the surface of a quadrangle of platinum accented with a border of mille grain work.

Surrounding the brilliant blue sapphires is a rectangular frame of eighteen (18) very fine old European cut diamonds of an approximate 1.08 carat total diamond weight, I-J color range and VS2-SI1 clarity range. In combination the diamonds and deep blue sapphires just come alive with an intensity which is simply dazzling to behold.

Date: Circa 1925.

THE FINE PRINT

Due to the nature of antique & vintage jewelry, many diamond and gemstone weights are calculated by measurements, not removed. Actual weights are noted in the item’s description. Grading of diamonds and gemstones may vary slightly when removed.

HONESTY

Being as honest as possible about the items we represent for sale is our ultimate goal! Our pricing is industry recognized as fair and equitable with value as the byword.

Measurements: 3/8 of an inch (1.0 cm) in length north to south on the hand and rises 3/16 of an inch (06 cm) in height off the finger. Weight of 5.9 grams (3.8 dwt).

Ring Size: US 6 (UK L-1/2; Euro or Int. Circum. 51.8 mm; Int. Dia. 16.5 mm; Japan 11) and easily can be sized to fit most. Ring sizing information.

Hallmarks: 51451 (probably a design number).

Condition: Excellent; light wear to a bit of shank design particularly on an edge of one side of the shoulder.

Note: Stones were not removed to preserve the integrity of the setting. All weights are approximated by measurement and formula and may vary from actual weights. Grading may vary if stones are removed.

Educational Note: Did you know that one clue to natural sapphires is that often you can see parallel and straight zones of color? That is very difficult to see with the naked eye. However, look closely at the sapphire on the right in our first photograph and you can find the lighter and darker stripes. While a challenge person, our macro photographs have highlighted the natural property. You may be able to see that natural phenomenon if you hold the ring up to the light and look very close as well. Voila, you have just identified the stone as a natural (non synthetic) gemstone - as are all the rest!
