Story

The countries of Scandinavia come from a long tradition of creating some of the most amazing designs of jewelry. Noted among them is the Danish firm of Georg Jensen Silversmithy established in 1904. Influenced most heavily by the philosophy of Arts and Crafts movement, Jensen and his appointed designers have a distinctive style recognizable by many non-experts.

Very scarce, this signed 18k yellow gold ring is set with a very deep Prussian blue natural sapphire cut en cabochon and weighing an estimated 3 carats. The sensual amorphous mounting illustrates the profound impact that the tenets of Art Nouveau had those associated with this great designer with its lyrical foliate motifs and sinuous tapered shank. The grand piece is fully hallmarked with the marks used for Georg Jensen from 1915 to 1930.

Date: Circa 1920.
