Story

Acrostic jewelry seems to have first emerged in France during the late 18th to early 19th century. Typically sentimental in nature, the genre uses a type of linguistic puzzle in which the first letter of the gems set within the piece spell out a message.

This particular example of 15k yellow gold is referred to as a REGARD ring. Embellished with a Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, Ruby and Diamonds, all gems are set closed back in a mount with a design similar to leaves with delicate granulation. The shank has foliate designs on the sides and a reeded band. A very scarce piece, as the ring is dated engraved to the interior in a flowing Italic script "RP to MB 13 July 1821".

Important: This ring should not be exposed to water or any other liquids, cleaning products or harsh chemicals. In addition, avoid steam cleaning.
