Story

For centuries the red variety spinel gemstone was unknown. Consequently a number of the famous imperial and royal rubies were in fact red spinels. The 170 carat Black Prince's ruby formerly set on the battle helmet of Henry V and currently in the Imperial State Crown of England in the British Crown Jewels is perhaps the greatest ruby impostor of all time.

Some individuals even prefer the red spinel to the ruby because of its depth of color and fiery internal shimmer. The superb spinel featured in this ring of 18k white gold has an actual weight of 16.52 carats. The breathtaking stone has been beautifully cut into an oval and faceted to enhance the brilliance and luster of a gem with exceptionally fine clarity.

The simple mount allows an unobstructed view of a superior gemstone. For a touch of prismatic color the sides of the shank are adorned with ten (10) brilliant cut diamonds with a total estimated diamond weight of .60 carats.

Date: Modern estate.

GIA certificate for the spinel.
