Story

Most definitely designed to make an impression, this Georgian cluster ring is set with old rose cut diamonds. It is quite unusual to find antique rose cuts foiled and set closed back to remain as bright and dazzling as the day the ring was fashioned.

A quite large rose cut diamond (more than 7 mm by 6 mm) visually appears as a 1.25 carat stone although in all probability has a weight of just over 1 carat. The traditional surround boasts eight (8) additional rose cuts with a visual total weight of .80 carats.

The diamonds, all white and radiating with a breathtaking brilliance are foiled, closed back and set in rub over crimped silver bezels. Trifurcated shoulders and banded shank are in yellow gold of 14k. Please note the underside has been gilded with rose gold.

Date: Circa 1800.

Important: This ring should not be in water for an extended period nor exposed to any other liquids, cleaning products or harsh chemicals due to the nature of foil backed stones. If considering as an engagement ring, please keep this in mind.

THE FINE PRINT

Due to the nature of antique & vintage jewelry, many diamond and gemstone weights are calculated by measurements, not removed. Actual weights are noted in the item’s description. Grading of diamonds and gemstones may vary slightly when removed.

HONESTY

Being as honest as possible about the items we represent for sale is our ultimate goal! Our pricing is industry recognized as fair and equitable with value as the byword.

Measurements: 5/8 of an inch (1.5 cm) in length north to south on the hand and rises 1/4 of an inch (0.6 cm) in height off the finger. Weight of 6.4 grams (4.2 dwt).

Ring Size: US 7 (UK N-1/2; Euro or Int. Circum. 54.4 mm; Int. Dia. 17.3 mm; Japan 14) and easily can be sized to fit most. Ring sizing information.

Condition: Very good; diamond excellent with one tiny edge chip to a smaller diamond visible with a magnification.

Notes: Please note that we cannot accurately estimated carat weight without knowing the depth due to the closed setting. Clarity is also difficult to determine given the foiling. For those who wish to be assured of color and clarity, do choose an more modern setting with open backs. Remember, historically antique diamonds were not graded as in the 20th and the 21st century. Diamonds were so rare that all were prized and cherished.
