Story

The carefree early years of Art Deco flamboyancy and excess segued in the 1930s to moderation and a somewhat more restrained vision. Gone was the decade of bold color and contrast and onto the years of “white” jewelry. The use of paler hued gem stones such as aquamarine and white metal became the de rigueur fashion. Exemplifying that vision is this circa 1930 ring set with a marquise or navette cut faceted aquamarine of about 1.33 carats. A feminine filigree mount of 14k white gold displays pierced open work curves and delicate forms in its caress of the pastel aquamarine.

Date: Circa 1930.
