Here a beautiful ring of 20k yellow gold features an entrancing rectangular emerald 5.5 mm by 3.55 mm centrally set with a rub over collet of gold and encased within a surround of rose and table cut diamonds. Table cuts were one of the earliest cuts of diamonds and are distinguished from others with a flat bottom, flat top surface and four simple equal bevels or facets. The reverse displays a closed back setting with handmade impressions on the perimeter.

Date: 18th century. This design and form was produced for many decades; it would be imprudent to be more precise regarding the date.

Measurements: 9/16 of an inch (1.4 cm) in length north to south on the finger by 9/16 of an inch (1.5 cm) in width. Weight of 5.3 grams (3.4 dwt).

Ring Size: US 7-1/2 (UK P; Euro or Int. Circum 55.3 mm; Int. Dia. 17.75 mm; Japan 15) and easily can be sized to fit most. Ring sizing information.

Condition: Very good for its age. Bezel around a number of stones is minutely misshapen and is only visible with magnification; two to three diamonds possibly replaced with rose cut diamonds – one of these diamonds is naive cut.

Origin: Spanish or Portuguese in origin.
