Story

The manifestation of human ingenuity never ceases to amaze and delight. A double sided pendant of 18k yellow gold displays two images of a different species of bird crafted entirely from actual feathers. One is of a colorful tropical parrot perched upon a flowering tree branch against a light tan background. Quite detailed with a golden beak, a tiny black eye against a flash of verdant green and blue feathers, the orange and coral bodies avian has a long flowing white and yellow tail and has the appearance of one contented birdie.

The other image is much more dramatic as it depicts a stately white crane against a stark black backdrop. Long legs are planted into wetland grass as the long-necked wonder has its head over its back perhaps in anticipation of a flight intention call. Delicate attention to detail is achieved using only feathers. The piece has an added period brooch fitting which can be easily removed to have this Edwardian jewel once again as a pendant.

Date: Circa 1900.
