Story

Delicacy and femininity in jewelry was preferred during the Edwardian era. Almost always symmetrical, ample openwork reflected modified designs from the 18th and 19th century with graceful curves and botanical motifs.

A flowerhead design of 9k yellow gold with half seed pearl petals surrounds a central round faceted sapphire and sets the stage for an open labyrinth of petite gold leaves and flower forms arrayed with a multitude of half seed pearls. Curves of slender threads of gold accented with opposing C-scroll motifs engender harmony of balance and elegance for a pearl and sapphire encrusted drop.

Fine gold chain link sports yet another round faceted sapphire which suspends two additional short lengths of chain which attach to the C-scroll forms. In all, thirty-one (31) half seed pearls and three (3) round faceted sapphires decorate a lovely period necklace.

Date: Circa 1900.
