Story

Chocolate in any form is a sensuous pleasure. When associated with jewelry, it is a dream come true. Discovered in Ethiopia, the chocolate opal can display striking prismatic colors. Only 1% of the mined stones are accepted as gem or precious opals with the desired color and play of fire.

This precious opal was extracted from a mine in the Shewa Province in Ethiopia. Untreated and cut into an oval cabochon of an estimated 5.5 carats, the chocolate delight is surrounded with a corona of sixteen (16) brilliant cut diamonds (I-J color range; VS2-SI1 clarity) with a total estimated diamond weight of .80 carats all in an 18k white gold mount. The contrast of the chocolaty brown opal with its kaleidoscopic swirl of colors against a ring of icy white diamonds is a treat for the eyes as well as the palette.

Date: Modern estate.
