Story

Awash with an array of magnificent lush old cut diamonds, this brooch is created with silver-topped 14k yellow gold. Almost like a butterfly with sparkling wings studded with fifty-three (53) oval, old mine and cushion cut diamonds of a total estimated diamond weight of 2.4 carats (H-K color range; SI1-SI2 clarity) set open backed.

A spot of color situated right in the center of the thorax of our little brilliant butterfly is a crystalline blue natural aquamarine of six sides. A later date yellow gold safety pin has been added for security. If so desired, this Victorian era brooch can be easily transformed into a spectacular pendant meant to flatter the décolletage.

Date: Circa 1880.

THE FINE PRINT

Due to the nature of antique & vintage jewelry, many diamond and gemstone weights are calculated by measurements, not removed. Actual weights are noted in the item's description. Grading of diamonds and gemstones may vary slightly when removed.

HONESTY

Being as honest as possible about the items we represent for sale is our ultimate goal! Our pricing is industry recognized as fair and equitable with value as the byword.

Measurements: 1 inch (3 cm) in length by 1-1/4 inches (3.1 cm) in width. Chain is 2-1/8 inches (5.6 cm) in length. Weight of 6.2 grams (4.0 dwt).

Condition: Excellent; one diamond possibly replaced; one smaller diamond chipped; a bit of surface wear to a few diamonds – all only visible with magnification. Safety chain with loop later addition.

Note: Diamonds have not been removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting. All diamond weights have been approximated by measurement and formula and may vary from actual weights. Grading has been done in situ and also may vary if stones are removed.
