Story

The Victorian era spanned decades and jewelry was most assuredly influenced by any number of styles, revivals and reinterpretations. Here we have a ring demonstrating one of the “typical” designs from the later 20 to 30 years of the final decade. Prong set within an inventive interpretation of a cluster ring is an oval faceted garnet of about 1.75 carats. Tiny natural seed pearls and stylized triangle shaped “leaves” of rose gold form a surround of foliate inspiration. The wide flat shank with its geometric shoulders finishes the piece with panache. The setting, all in 10k rose gold nicely complements the centered garnet.

Date: Circa 1870.
