Story

Use of the star and crescent motifs prevailed during most of the Victorian era. Here those romantic designs are employed in the creation of a pair of arresting Bohemian garnet earrings. Suspended from a flowerhead surmount studded with radiant blood red garnets are two dangles swinging upon chain-like lengths of small faceted garnets.

The longer pendant is of a garnet set crescent moon articulated in two places. Right in the center hanging from a similar garnet “chain” is a six pointed garnet star. All the stones are set closed back and almost totally dominate the yellow over gold metal. This pair of period earrings displays an impressive articulated construction that says with any subtle movement of the body.

Date: Circa 1880.
