Story

The word spectacular seems to pale when used to describe this Art Deco hand crafted platinum ring. Perhaps magnificent will suffice as there are a total of seventy-three (73) old mine and cushion cut diamonds with an estimated total diamond weight of 8.58 carats.

Expansive in its overall proportions, a center bezel set old mine cut diamond of .79 carats (H-I color; SI1-SI2 clarity) radiates into a snowflake pattern of openwork platinum bead set with diamond after diamond after diamond. The pierced dome displays twelve (12) old mine cut diamonds ranging from .20 to .32 carats each, eighteen (18) old mine and cushion cuts from .13 to .16 carats and twenty-four (24) old mine and cushion cuts between .02 carats and .09 carats. The range of color is I-L and clarity is VS2-SI1 with a few diamonds of VS1.

The under carriage is a tribute to the skill of a master jeweler with the sensibilities of an Art Moderne architect. In place of glass block and chrome, the sleek and elegant curving lines, smooth rounded corners and linear balustrades are expressed as decorative elements in platinum and diamonds. Fine azuring and mille grain detail finishes the impressive finger ring.

Provenance: From a private estate in the upper Northwest United States.

Date: Circa 1935.
