Story

The later years of the Victorian era were known as the Aesthetic Period. Focus had shifted from the ornate archaeologically-inspired designs to an awareness of the simplicity inherent in the object itself.

Here we have an example of a sterling silver bangle with a complete set of English hallmarks. The impact of the Japonaiserie influence is apparent in the asymmetrical hand engraving among the raised botanical motifs of applied foliate and leaf designs.

Date: 1884.
