Story

The cushion cut or old mine cut diamond is a forerunner of the modern brilliant cut. With a four-sided deep square or rectangle form and rounded corners, it was the typical cut for the 19th century with its hand cut nature displaying a high crown, a small table, deep pavilion and large open culet (bottom). Sometimes referred to as pillow top or buff top, the cushion cut is one of the more fiery and lively of the diamond cuts.

A horizontal profile of five (5) old cushion and old mine cut diamonds of an estimated total diamond weight of 1.00 carats (H-J color range; VS2-SI1 clarity) are platinum prong set in a gallery of platinum and 18k yellow gold. With a brilliance particularly lovely in the romantic glow of candlelight, this classic cushion cut diamond ring has become a look for today and most definitely will set you apart from all the others.

Date: Circa 1900.
